Finite element modeling of a generic stemless hip implant ...
In this study, the finite element modeling and comparison of the stress and strain analyses were carried out for three different structures that are intact bone, stemless implant and stemmed one. Currently proposed stemless design studied here is the generic concept of stemless implant.
A Preliminary Biomechanical Assessment of a Polymer ...
With the resurgence of composite materials in orthopaedic applications, a rigorous assessment of stress is needed to predict any failure of bone-implant systems. For current biomechanics research, strain gage measurements are employed to experimentally validate finite element models, which then characterize stress in the bone and implant.
CHAPTER IV FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF THE KNEE JOINT ...
CHAPTER IV FINITE ELEMENT ANALYSIS OF THE KNEE JOINT WITHOUT A MEDICAL IMPLANT 4.1 Modeling in Biomechanics The human body, apart of all its other functions is a mechanical mechanism and a structure, since it transmits movement and force. As a structure its elements may be subjected to forces and suffer stress and strain.

The goal of this research is to study the preclinical development and testing of a self-sensing and self-powered total knee replacement (TKR) that embeds piezoelectric transducers inside the polyethylene bearing of a TKR unit for load sensing of tibiofemoral forces and generation of electrical energy to power the device. bone and implant. Two geometric models were created: an actual 3D representation of the tibia and the respective tibial components (realistic model); and a simplistic model for a better understanding of the interface behaviour. Both models were subjected to a Finite Element Analysis (FEA), varying the slopes in the sagittal
